2021’s Best-of-the-Best Senior Discounts

Maybe you’ve found out the hard way that senior discounts come and go without notice, and that some of them aren’t really worth the hassle. So, with that in mind, please don’t hold us over the fire when it comes to these listings. This is by no means an exhaustive list—just a sampling—but each one has been researched and verified as of the beginning of 2021, and we think they’re pretty great.

Restaurant Senior Discounts

Arby’s is a fast-food chain serving up its famous roast beef, curly fries and a variety of meats. If you’re 55 or older, you can get a 10% discount or a discounted drink.

Bonefish Grill is known for its Bang Bang Shrimp in a casual dining atmosphere. Guests who are AARP members receive a 10% discount

Carrabba’s Italian Grill offers a 10% discount to AARP members, so stop by for lunch or dinner to enjoy Italian-American cuisine in a casual, all-American atmosphere.

Fuddruckers prides itself on build-your-own burgers made with premium beef. Guests who are 55 or older can enjoy a 10% discount in fun, colorful, family-oriented surroundings. 

Outback Steakhouse takes diners down under with Australian Outback inspiration. If you’re an AARP member, you can take advantage of a 10% discount

sweetFrog is serving up frozen yogurt and ice cream, with toppings done by you. You can get a 15% discount with your AARP card

Whataburger is treating guests 55 and over to a 10% discount on their Texas-inspired burgers and fast food.

Car Rental Senior Discounts

Budget is a car rental service providing quality vehicles and great service at more than 1,900 locations. AARP members get discounts of up to 30%

Hertz not only has a massive vehicle inventory, they offer a 20% discount to customers 50 years of age and older. 

Air Travel Senior Discounts

American Airlines books affordable flights and vacation packages, with a list of over 250 destinations. Passengers 65 and over enjoy a variety of discounts. 

Southwest not only has famously low fares and fees, and carries more domestic travelers than any other airline, it treats passengers 65 and older to a discount (percentages vary). 

Rail Travel Senior Discounts

Amtrak can take you across town or across the country—and with a 10% discount for passengers 65 and older, it’s a travel option that’s worth considering. 

Bus Travel Senior Discounts

Greyhound bus lines offers a 5% discount to anyone 62 and above. This transit service prides itself on safe, professional and courteous drivers…for intercity service and road trips alike. 

Trailways includes a network of independent bus companies that serve more than 37,000 destinations, with scheduled routes, tours and charter rentals. Riders 65 and over get 10% off or half-off fares

Cruise Lines Senior Discounts

Carnival is known as the “Fun Ship” and sails to the world’s most popular destinations. Passengers 55 and over enjoy discounts that vary from cruise to cruise. 

Norwegian offers everything from weekend cruises to the world’s most desirable vacations. Those who are 55 and older have a number of discounts to choose from, while AARP card holders get a 5% discount.

Royal Caribbean will transport you to the earth’s most unforgettable destinations. And if you’re 55 or older, you’ll get a 10% discount.

Hotel Senior Discounts

Choice Hotels includes a variety of chains across the U.S. and offers a 10% discount to guests 60 and over who book in advance.

Marriott is a full-service hotel chain offering rooms by the night, extended stays, timeshares and a 15% discount for guests 62 and up. 

Radisson gives a 10% discount to AARP members, who will enjoy clean design, honest service and genuine hospitality. 


Clothing Store Discounts for Seniors

Kohl’s has clothing for people of all ages, and if you’re 55 or over (60 or over in some locations), you can save up to 15%.

TJ Maxx is a discount retail chain that offers a 10% discount every Monday to customers 55 and above.

Grocery Store Discounts for Seniors

Albertsons prides itself on being a one-stop shop for food, coffee, banking and entertainment…and customers 55 and up get a 10% discount on the first Wednesday of every month

ShopRite grocery stores are independently owned and operated, and offer a 5% discount on either Tuesday or Wednesday, starting at the age of 55 and varying by location.   

Entertainment Discounts for Seniors

Landmark Theaters specializes in independent films, documentaries, foreign and restored films. They treat patrons age 62 and over to discounts of up to 25%.

National Parks across the country (62 in total) offer a $10 lifetime pass and a 50% discount on some amenities and fees to those 62 and over. 

Ripley’s Believe it or Not invites guests 55 and older to take $2 off admission to their odditoriums, showcasing bizarre items and strange events.

San Diego Zoo houses more than 3,500 animals and welcomes visitors 65 and above to enjoy a 10% discount.
